Service Description

This entry-level 2 day in person workshop is designed for new starters, apprentices and staff beginning their career or those requiring a refresher within local and public authorities or regulatory services. It provides a practical introduction to the legal, procedural and evidential requirements of investigation and requirements of PACE 1984.. Learners will gain a practical understanding of the key legal framework including Police and Criminal Evidence Act 1984 (PACE), European Convention on Human Rights (ECHR), relevant Codes of Practice, and the principles of Sections 76 and 78 relating to admissibility of evidence. The course also covers core evidence handling skills, including different types of evidence, best evidence principles, note taking standards, exhibits, digital evidence, witness evidence, identification considerations, and disclosure responsibilities under Criminal Procedure and Investigations Act 1996. Learners will be introduced to professional interview practice, including the caution, investigative interviewing principles, recognising vulnerability, interview planning using the P.E.A.C.E. model, managing legal representatives and third parties, audio recorded interviews, and handling unsolicited comments. The event is held in person at a venue in Birmingham. Certificates of CPD are available Course dates are Wednesday 3rd June and Thursday 4th June 2026 Our trainers are qualified to Level 4 in Education and Training [Cert Ed] and have a wide and extensive background in complex criminal investigations and understand fully the implications of PACE and the practical application. Our Trainers are ‘current’ subject matter experts in their fields, advanced suspect interview trained and designed and delivered PACE training within local authorities over the last 10 years and are current as practitioners in the subject matter. HOW TO BOOK £349 + VAT (GBP) per delegate Booking: Payment can be made via the website by PayPal/debit/credit card or select the Pay on the day option if you are booking on behalf of your organisation. This will allow and invoice to be raised to obtain a purchase order number.

Cancellation Policy

1. Course Registration: • Participants must register for courses through the BDG Training Consultancy website (bdgtrainingconsultancy.co.uk). • Full payment or a Purchase order (if applicable) must be made at the time of booking to secure a spot in the course. • Confirmation of booking will be sent via email once the registration and payment are completed. 2. Payment Methods: • We accept payments via credit/debit card, PayPal, bank transfer or Purchase Order • For bank transfers, payment must be received within 7 days of booking; otherwise, the reservation may be canceled. 3. Corporate Bookings: • Organisations wishing to book courses for multiple employees should contact BDG Training Consultancy directly for group rates and customised booking processes. • A purchase order or formal agreement may be required for corporate bookings. Cancellation Policy 1. Participant Cancellations: • Cancellations made more than 7 days before the course start date will receive a full refund minus a £50 administration fee. • Cancellations made between 7 to 14 days before the course start date will receive a 50% refund. • No refunds will be given for cancellations made less than 15 days before the course start date. • Participants may transfer their booking to another individual without incurring a fee, provided BDG Training Consultancy is notified at least 7 days before the course start date. 2. Course Cancellations by BDG Training Consultancy: • BDG Training Consultancy reserves the right to cancel or reschedule courses if necessary. • In the event of a cancellation or reschedule by BDG Training Consultancy, participants will be offered a full refund or the option to transfer to another course date. 3. Force Majeure: • BDG Training Consultancy is not liable for cancellations due to circumstances beyond our control, such as natural disasters, acts of terrorism, or other unforeseen events (force majeure). • In such cases, BDG Training Consultancy will attempt to reschedule the course, and participants will be given the option to attend the rescheduled course or receive a full refund.
