To provide an understanding of the statutory requirements of the Regulation of Investigatory Powers Act 2000 and Codes of Practice. This practical, structured RIPA AO training course gives you a comprehensive understanding of surveillance authorising training as well as CHIS Training to ensure you can apply the legal regime as an AO under RIPA. You’ll learn how to achieve RIPA compliance for Authorising Officers when completing RIPA authorisations

  8. Define the application, authorisation, review, renewal, and cancellation process under RIPA 

  9. Identify the 7 key decision points for an AO /SAO under RIPA 2000

  10. Demonstrate application of the 7 key decision points under RIPA

  11. Explain the implications of current caselaw R Sutherland, Rv Johnson, R v Palmer

  12. Explain the role and requirements of the IPCO [Investigatory Powers Commissioners Office]. 

  13. Apply procedures to ensure proper record keeping.
